Finally got back from this 9 month engagement with Xe Services (formerly the Blackwater Worldwide private military group). In 2009 Xe contracted Nerf Weapon Systems to equip their private security personnel exclusively with Nerf carbines, sub-machine guns and tactical rifles. As such, I saw a variety of combat situations with these N-Strike cartridges. PROS: The innovative caseless design enhances the reliability of these weapon systems and eliminates the need for flash suppressors: ideal for nighttime operations that demand stealth. The rounds are also considerably lighter than standard munitions – try walking 20 miles of Afghan desert with a fully loaded HK-MP5, and you’ll certainly appreciate the reduced weight of Nerf weapons. CONS: Really, the only issue with these rounds is that of *stopping power*. To be blunt: when you put 2 rounds, center mass, into a target, you expect him to go down. Right? With these N-Strike rounds, not so much. Once, I saw my buddy Carlos empty a full clip into a hostile… damn things bounced off him like he was wearing Level V ballistic armor… but I swear to god, the dude wasn’t wearing anything heavier than an old Hootie and the Blowfish t-shirt (they’re still really popular in Kabul… no idea why). If you see combat with a Nerf N-Strike Carbine, your best bet is to aim for the head… specifically the eyes, and hope the round stuns the hostile long enough to take him out at close range.
