First–I ordered 3 copies of “The Help” for girls in my book club. The box was all beaten up and wet. The books were just thrown into the box and one of them–mine, of course–was wet, warped and generally damaged. I was shocked. I immediately notified the packaging department. But never heard a word. Still haven’t. Such a disappointment to buy a new book and have it arrive in that condition.
The book was excellent though. The author has the language down just right and the story is well told. I grew up in the south and these people are real. Hooray for Ms Stockett! She has written a delightful book that’s fun to read and fun to discuss.

I bought this book because I ran out of things to read. I wandered around the store and noticed how much display this book was given to. I purchased it solely based on its popularity.
I started reading it and had a bit of a hard time moving forward. English is not my native tongue and all the circus talk really made my head spin. I took a short break and finished an easy read and then resumed this book. I am glad I did.
I felt very engaged after 1/3 of the book when most of the characters started to build and show their individual qualities. As the book went on, I felt I was also living in this circus train and witnessing all the activities.
My heart definitely melted when they acquired Rosie, the elephant and at the same time, I started loathing the character August for abusing the elephant so much. In addition to that, the performer Walter/Kinko also transformed into this loving person that looked out after others.
About half way through the book, I think almost all readers wanted nothing more than Jacob and Marlena being together and the death of August and Uncle Al. One thing I do believe a good author offers is the connection between the readers and the characters and I definitely felt that engagement with some of them and my heart ached at times as the story continued.
I am not sure if I am a big fan of the Old Jacob. Not that it is bad but I really just did not quite get why it was important to keep his voice in. I did not see how old Jacob has contributed to the book and I think it could do without.
Overall, I enjoyed the book so much and I was very happy to have resumed and finished it. It is a book that broadens your mind and showers you with all the circus knowledge. A fun and great read!

I bought this for my daughter’s 4th birthday. We live far away from grandma. My daughter loves to play with her. She uses phrases her grandma says to her when she plays with it. The doll comes with cute little presents for the “grandkids” just like real grandmas would bring.

I love everything about this pedometer. It was easy to program and get started. I like that it tracks your steps, aerobic steps, calories burned, miles walked, etc. It’s ability to reset itself every night at midnight is also very handy. A great product for a very reasonable price here on Amazon. It is keeping me on track with my daily workouts and just to wear all day to track steps, etc. Love it!!!!

This nuvi portable mount works great and is pretty stable. The only time I had an issue was taking a curve a bit to fast. This is also easy to hide under my driver seat. Well worth it and much less expensive than the Garmin site even with a 20% discount.

I was originally looking for a scale that would give an accurate reading. That means two things: 1) when I get on the scale, get off, and get back on again, I get the same number. 2) It gives me the same reading as the fancy scale at the gym. It does both of those. I don’t give it a 5 because I find it hard to “love” a scale and because it’s a little difficult to wake up. You’re supposed to tap on the glass with your foot to “wake up” the scale, but you often have to tap it a few times in a few different places or tap the side or slide it across the floor. That’s not really a hassle unless you’re trying to weigh yourself while your spouse is asleep — all the tapping and sliding sounds like an animal is loose in the house.
